FLAMER / NOTES

Give them something to reply to.

A useful reply doesn't need a perfect line. It needs a little attention to what the other person said and an easy way for them to keep going.

Notice one detail

If someone mentions a weekend hike, start there. A specific response shows you read the message. “Where did you go?” is a better starting point than changing the subject to a generic compliment.

Add a little of yourself

A question alone can feel like an interview. Pair it with a small, truthful detail about you.

They say: “I spent Sunday hiking.”

You could say: “That sounds like a good Sunday. I'm usually on team long walk followed by a bakery stop. Where did you hike?”

This is an illustrative example, not a real conversation.

Match the energy

A short, casual message usually calls for a short, casual response. If they ask a thoughtful question, give it a little more room. You don't have to turn every exchange into a joke or a date invitation.

Make the next step easy

Ask one question rather than three. If you're suggesting a plan, make it concrete and leave space for a no. If the other person isn't interested, respect that; a clever reply is not a reason to keep pushing.

When you're stuck, use a starting point

In Flamer, upload a screenshot of your conversation to get reply ideas in different styles. Pick the idea that fits, remove anything untrue, and edit it before sending. Share only content you have permission to process, and crop unnecessary personal details.
